Grado's
version of a portable knock-around headphone. The entry level SR40's were
born out of a desire to provide high-end headphones at an affordable price.
The headphone housing is designed by Grado but manufactured in China.
Grado sends their SR60 drivers to China and has the headphones assembled
there thus enabling an economically produced headphone unrivaled at its
price.

"The Grado
retained control and rhythm at high volumes. They never scream or strain,
but give an exciting performance, vocals sounding sweet and natural with
a breathy intimacy."
"The
SR40 dosen't need to be driven to ear-drum threatening SPLs
to deliver all the performance of which it is capable."

NEWS & RECORD REVIEW
|
"The
SR40 had decent bass, it sounded good on jazz and acoustic
music. The SR40 retains a good deal of the more expensive
Grado's stereo imaging abilities and certainly imaged better than
the headphones packaged with portable CD players."
