Grado replacement cushions

The replacement cushions are thicker and more durable than the original cushions which is good. However, the extra thickness makes them tighter on my ears which is a bit more uncomfortable.

SR 60 cushion replacement

Bought my SR 60 headphones around 2004. By 2026 the cushions were still working, but the color had faded and the material felt too soft and about to fail. These replacements fit perfectly, very happy, would buy again.

Nice Alternate to F, Nice Flavor Change to L

TL;DR: Improved comfort over L (my favorite) and F, sound-stage collapses or expands depending on song. Some new details come out compared to L, however it does change tuning of cans with stock L or F-Cushion. Tested on GH2 and Hemp LE version 1.

My two daily listener headphones use the L-Cushion, so I have gotten very used to those, so take that into consideration. I could not fit the S on the X series headphone, so only tried on the GH2 and Hemp LE (first released one.) The comfort is a bit better. The frequency response changes in an interesting way (not good or bad). Some music, it makes the sound-stage expand, some it shrinks. Imaging is at least as good as the L, but I am used to Ls, so typically pick them. I noticed that since the cans are closer to the ear, there actually are details I didn't pick up in some songs before.

try something

I wanted to try them since the pads on mine when i bought them used were the larger ones. I have not come to and may never come to saying A is better than
B or vice versa. I like Grado head phones but not everything about them. I say that about everything.

Good morning,

I'm not sure what headphones you are pairing these cushions with but I'm thinking it could be a GS/PS or Signature headphone because you mentioned they came with the larger cushions. If that is the case its understandable that you weren't liking the S cushions. We pair each model with the cushion we feel best suits the headphone. The sound and comfort is a subjective issue though and we understand that many users have a different preference and that is why we make all of the cushions available and compatible as well as easily interchangable.
