The Gold3 uses a four piece OTL cantilever with a Grado specific elliptical diamond stylus mounted on a brass bushing. A machined turned generator is used to achieve a lower distortion and greater transparency.

Grado’s OTL, or optimized transmission line, technology provides an ideal transfer of signal from the surface of the LP to the generator of the system.

This technology rejects unwanted resonances and lowers distortion preserving the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of the music. This also helps keep noise generated by the motor system in the cartridge to a minimum.

Grado’s OTL stylus/cantilever design makes records sound quieter, improves the height, width, and depth of the soundstage, and present more detail than previously obtainable.

The Gold3 are all hand assembled by our team in Brooklyn, with some builders having over 25 years of experience. With the recent development of the highly received Lineage Series of cartridges, we were able to have a trickle down of technology and bring some new techniques to the Gold3.

This updated series of cartridges offers excellent tonal balance, dynamics, and realism, for a most rewarding reproduction of vocals and instruments. Our coil winding techniques, using ultra high purity copper wire which were honed during the development of the Lineage Series, have let the electrical circuits achieve unison between the four coils in each phono cartridge. This allows for a precise balance between channels and accurate stereo imaging.

As in all Grado phono cartridges the Gold3 is powered by a twin magnet system that optimizes the balance between stereo channels. All internal magnetic circuit parts are held to extremely high tolerances creating the desired stereo imaging. Grado’s patented Flux-Bridger design allows the Gold3 to have one of the lowest effective moving mass generating systems while creating an excellent balance throughout the full frequency range.

Grado Gold phono cartridge

Great company, excellent service and communication, high value product for my record player this cartridge sounds great especially for the price. Needed a cartridge that weighed less than 8 g so it works perfect installed on a duel turntable from the 1970s. Sounds like it did back then only better thank you Grado

Grado Gold

I destroyed my Grado black stylist by accident and decided to go for the gold. Sure glad I did. I have it in a Thorens TD 160 turntable and absolutely love the Fidelity.

Better than I hoped for

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect from a sub $300 cartridge, but having read so many reviews and user
comments about this cart that I figured I'd give it a try. I'm very glad that I did. Not only am I surprised at the smooth bass punch and pleasant top end, but they have superior customer service. I can't wait to try other carts further up their line.

Thank you Frank.

Grado Gold 3 on a Thorens

After owning a Thorens TD160 for 49 years (with the original TP16 tonearm), the Gold 3 is giving me what I think is the best sound possible from this turntable. I do not think it can get any better. And this was an upgrade from a well-used Grado Blue with 8MZ stylus. I forget that I am listening to a turntable (except for the quiet passages). I've compared the sound to CDs of the same recording, and they are almost indistinguishable. If anything, the Grado is smoother with incredible punch and crystal clear highs, without the typical CD "enhancement" to the dynamic range. CDs win on quiet, and they still have a treasured place in my collection, but the Grado 3 wins on making my cherished collection of records dating back to the '60s sound as good as they possibly can. I know many people have a Thorens TD160. I think this is the best cartridge for the Thorens TP16 tonearm you can get without getting into exotic money. But....you have to be willing to spend time and have the patience to set it up properly. This is the only qualified comment. The Grados are not forgiving of improper--though small-- errors in alignment and calibration.

100 percent highly recommended.

Grado Prestige Gold 3 Phono Cartridge

Lush sound. However, tracking is very sensitive to warped records and oitput is lower compared to my Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge.
