The Gold3 are all hand assembled by our team in Brooklyn, with some builders having over 25 years of experience. With the recent development of the highly received Lineage Series of cartridges, we were able to have a trickle down of technology and bring some new techniques to the Gold3.
This updated series of cartridges offers excellent tonal balance, dynamics, and realism, for a most rewarding reproduction of vocals and instruments. Our coil winding techniques, using ultra high purity copper wire which were honed during the development of the Lineage Series, have let the electrical circuits achieve unison between the four coils in each phono cartridge. This allows for a precise balance between channels and accurate stereo imaging.
As in all Grado phono cartridges the Gold3 is powered by a twin magnet system that optimizes the balance between stereo channels. All internal magnetic circuit parts are held to extremely high tolerances creating the desired stereo imaging. Grado’s patented Flux-Bridger design allows the Gold3 to have one of the lowest effective moving mass generating systems while creating an excellent balance throughout the full frequency range.

Replaced my old Shure Type V with the Gold 3 and was immediately inspired by the sound to dig out my many classical, Americana, and jazz albums.
Tight bass, warm mid range, and a nice top end. Each instrument (or section of the orchestra) well defined. Piano is particularly lovely.
Bonus: even my vintage rock albums sound fresh.
Only complaint: the mounting screws. My Shure came with a variety from which I could chose the best to fit my finicky Thorens tone arm wand. Not so the Grado, which made mounting it a trial.
Exceed my expectations, wonderful separation of tracks, magnificent high end response, vivid low end. Makes me wish I had upgraded my cartridge years ago!

I started using Grado cartridges in 1970 and so their “house sound” is comforting. All may favorite albums have the Grado sound print in my head. I’ve owned all the major brands and a few esoteric ones but always return to what I know and love. The Gold3 is perfect and a bargain at this price point… high output is easy on the electronics. The best part is the music, acoustic instruments and voices sound natural and organic, not amped up or muted down, just like they are suppose to. Rhythm is spot on, not appearing to race or fall asleep. The Gold3 is the opposite of a showy showroom sound, no bonus splash or slam, just the music.

This is the best cartridge I have ever heard. I listen only to jazz. With your cartridge the piano is crystal clear, even at soft volume. The bass solos sound like the real instrument is in the room. With saxophones, the tenor tone is completely distinct from the alto tone. I couldn’t ask for more.
