Customer Reviews
I ordered the wrong replacement and was surprised and disappointed to find that I could not exchange them for L-cushions. I am stuck.
I'm sorry but for sanitary reasons, as stated on our website, cushions can not be returned.
When the L-cushions on my RS1s started to disintegrate, I knew I wanted the drivers a little closer to ears to pull the lower end up. I grabbed a pair of G-cushions and a pair of F-cushions this Christmas. Oddly, at the moment Grado emailed me for feedback on these, this evening, I'm blasting Gojira through the F-cushions, and it sounds heavenly. The G-cushions? In the trash. They smelled like something between burnt plastic and cigarettes and a week of airing out didn't improve them. For the few minutes I had them on til the smell hit me, they felt fine and I liked the driver spacing.
Large ear pads provide more comfort by distributing the clamping pressure over a larger contact area and better stabilizes the headphones from falling off. The sound stage is larger with more precise sound source placement and rendering of recording venue ambiance and space. Genuine Grado G-cushions are the real deal, albeit expensive and the foam ages quickly, flaking off after a couple of years of gentle use. Cheap knockoff G-cushions do not sound nearly as good, nor do they fit as well.
Grado Headphone Replacement G-Cushions
I have owned two pairs of Grado headphones. On both pairs, the headphone cushions, start to deteriorate and disintegrate after a period of time. They are the ugliest cushions of any headphones I have ever seen. While they are fairly comfortable, they still feel kind of rough to the skin. With all the great headphones on the market now, I would not have bought my GS 1000i headphones. I feel there are much better looking, comfortable and better sounding headphones for the $1,000 I paid for these. If I owned Grado, I would get rid of those inferior quality material, ear cushions and replace them with something nicer looking and more comfortable to the skin than those ugly cushions they use and will guarantee to disintegrate after a period of time. I'm sure this would increase the sales of Grado headphones. And $50 for those cheap replacements is ridiculous. More proper price would be around $20 tops!
