There are many analog lovers with record collections that include mono albums. At Grado we strive to have products that will fit all the needs of the analog enthusiast. So now, Grado offers two new cartridge models in a mono version. The MC+ and the ME+ are mounted with an elliciptical diamond. The ME+ uses one of GRADO's upgraded generating systems. All wooden body cartridges are available in mono version. This will make your records quieter and enhance the musical pleasure of these recordings.
The Prestige model ME+ uses a modified four piece OTL cantilever technology, oxygen free wire in the coils and a specially designed, high polished, elliptical diamond mounted in a brass bushing.

The output of this cartridge is EXTREMELY low. My main cartridge is an Ortofon 2M Black that specified as 5mv @ 5cm/sec. Normally my preamp is volume is set at about 11:00 o’clock. With the volume left at that position the output of the Grade Mono ME+ outputs 15dB lower. Even if the volume control is set to maximum where just touching the head shell makes quite a racket, but still can’t drive my DAC near full output. The strange thing is that the tonal balance still seems to be fairly good. The Grado is specified at 4mV @ 3.54 cm/sec = 5.64 @ 5cm/sec so it seems it should actually have a higher output than my Ortofon. I assume that since Grado has an excellent reputation, I somehow managed to receive a defective cartridge. How do I go about returning this cartridge and getting a new one?
Thanks,
Glen Gould

I have several old mono records, many of them are kind of noisy to very noisy when played with my stereo cartridge. I had read a mono cartridge would yield quieter playback by not tracking for stereo....this indeed turned out to be the case! My older monos all sound better, and some are amazing - true og "Hi-Fi". This cartridge is a great value, and I appreciate the quality products the folks at Grado produce.
