Excellent sound quality but press too tightly on the ears despite adjustments.

Hi Brian,

There is a metal band in that runs through the headband that can be bent to whatever shape you need it to be, this should allow you to make the inward pressure to your liking...

My Perfect Companion for Metal and Rock

The SR80x delivers that crisp, bright sound that hits you like standing next to bar speakers during a live show. For metal and rock, these headphones are fantastic - the bass punches hard without being muddy, transients snap with precision, and everything feels immediate and exciting. The sound signature is definitely tilted toward energy over smoothness, which works perfectly for aggressive music but might be too intense for quieter genres.
Build quality is typical Grado - nothing fancy to look at, but built to last. The foam pads are comfortable enough for decent listening sessions. If you're into metal and rock and want headphones that capture that live, in-your-face energy, the SR80x nails it.

Great open backs!!!

These headphones are well made and inexpensive. Sparkly sounding that's great for jazz or music with lots going on. The staging in these is top notch and they're also great for movies and such. Love being able to hear around me as well, will recommend them to anyone in the market for American made quality headphones!

Simply the best headphones I’ve ever listened to

Title says it all. These really are the best headphones I’ve ever tried - they blow everything else out of the water. Granted, these are only my second pair of Hi-Fi headphones, and before I mostly listened to mainstream consumer headphones. However, now that I have my Grados, there’s no going back. Every song sounds so much more exciting and “alive” with these headphones - I’m re-discovering all of my favorite songs with the SR80x. The bang for buck is mind-blowing. Thank you, Grado Labs, for making such an amazing sonic experience not only affordable, but also so enjoyable.

Specifically tuned for the SR80x, this new speaker design features a more powerful magnetic circuit, a voice coil with decreased effective mass, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Reengineering these components for our 44mm drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.
Along with the speakers, the cables and headband have been redesigned for the SR80x. Now housed in a more durable braided sheathing, the 4-conductor cable features a super annealed copper wire for improved purity of the audio signal. The new headband features more padding for amore comfortable experience.
