The Grado PS500 has been discontinued for many years but we found a few older PS500 housings, so we put together an X Series version. This is an extremely limited edition, less than a dozen available.
These rare hyhrid headphones are X series everywhere but the Aluminum and Maple housings. With our 4th generation drivers these PS500 Specials will deliver the sound you expect from a Grado. Included are the X Series braided cable and black leather headband.
These are final sales and include Grado's one year manufacturers warranty.

I like gradolabs products. When I first heard the SR325x, I was shocked. It was great and I've since bought a Hemp, SR225x, GH2, and RS1x. Meanwhile, I was looking for PS500, and luckily I was able to get PS500SPECIAL.
The sound of PS500SPECIAL is amazing and I listen to it every night.

I already own several models, with the GH2 being my favorite. While that didn't change with what I like to call the PS500x, it still takes a high place in my collection. It offers quite nice bass within the Grado cosmos, a bit less warmth but more lively mids than the GH2 while keeping its lofty, free floating yet precise imaging, more even treble than my OG PS500. Its efficient and perfectly usable with e.g. an old iPod Classic I still like.
My main reason hesitating during the order process was the new X-series cable. And I'm more than happy that the cable on my PS500x is more pliable and not as rough as it was on a SR325x I tested recently. This cable is fine, I quite like it. Its also nice to have a 3,5mm connector instead of the 6.3mm one on the old PS500 (non-e version).

How about a PS2000x? I like my PS2000e very much...
